In a house, kitchen is the place where most serious accidents occur.Kitchen has many hazards.
  • cooking gas
  • ovens
  • grinders
  • lighters
  • matchsticks
  • Matches, lighters, cigarettes may become a cause of injury to children. Store matches and lighters out of children’s reach and sight Strike matches away from your body.
  • Never have hot tea, coffee or soup with child in your lap.
  • Keep pan handles turned inward so that children cannot reach them or pull them.
  • Keep hot dishes in the centre of the table.
  • Do not have low hanging table cloth which the child can pull down.
  • Have a well planned kitchen. Do not have storage shelves, over the cooking area.
  • Do not wear loose flowing clothes while cooking. Tuck in the loose end of your saree or duppatta
  • Use tongs to lift hot utensils from the stove.
  • Dish towels or old rags are dangerous as the loose end of the cloth may catch fire from the flame.
  • Put out candles and oil lamps when no one is at home. Do not keep them near curtains or calendars
  • A tip of a burning cigarette can start a fire. It should be extinguished.in and ash tray. Electricity
  • Electricity is the most versatile form of energy. Be sure all the electrical appliances are in a perfect working condition before you use.
  • Never operate any electrical appliance with wet hands, or in wet clothes or shoes.
  • Connect only one appliance to one socket. Overloading can cause over heating and cause fire.
  • Wires must not be strung over nails through doorways or put under mats or carpets.
  • Replace frayed wiring
  • Do not overloaded sockets
  • Put plug guards into the socket when not in use. Children are tempted to poke their fingers or sticks or pencils in it.
