


Giving back to the community has always been important to FedEx and to its employees. Through a number of global, national and local relationships, FedEx is striving to improve the lives of people in those communities, in which its customers, employees and neighbors live and work.
Safety is a core value of FedEx, and it is the first consideration in all operations. FedEx partners with the Safe Kids Worldwide to promote child and pedestrian safety around the world.
Together, they have established the Safe Kids Walk This Way program, a year round program designed to teach pedestrian safety to children and to promote safe communities. Safe Kids Walk This Way has spread quickly and is celebrated in 600 schools annually in the United States, India, Canada, China, South Korea, Brazil and Philippines. Hundreds of different events and activities make up this program, from volunteers walking children to school; to parents and teachers spreading the message through educational sessions and activities in schools.
In India, the Walk This Way program was launched on 3rd October, 2007 on International Walk to School Day.
FedEx and Safe Kids Worldwide celebrated the tenth anniversary of Safe Kids Walk This Way program in 2009. Since the launch of the program in 2000, FedEx volunteers have reached families in hundreds of communities around the globe.
2009 was a year of milestone for the Wlk This Way program. The expansion of flagship activities like International Walk To School Day, Halloween and the FedEx Air and Ground program took place in addition to the launching of new initiatives to benefit child pedestrians. FedEx proudly celebrated the sucesses achieved during the tenth year of collaboration with Safe Kids Worldwide by designating a huge sum for carrying out second phase of PHOTOVOICE-Photojournalism project. FedEx and Safe Kids Worldwide highlighted the milestone by co-hosting a reception for pedestrian advocates at the Walk 21 Conference in New York city on October 8, 2009.The global PHOTOVOICE exibit was displayed during the evening which was well received by the members of the pedestrian safety world.
