Pedestrian Safety Tips
- Cross the street with an adult, if you are younger than 10 years of age.
- Walk on the footpath.
- If there is no footpath, walk on the right side of the road facing traffic.
- Cross at the zebra crossing.
- Follow the kerb drill
1) Stop at the kerb
2) Look to your right
3) Look to your left
4) Look to your right again
5) If the road is clear walk across, do not run - Always look and listen for vehicles while crossing.
- Make sure the driver sees you before you cross in front of them.
- Obey all traffic signals.
- Play in safe areas, not on streets, footpaths or in parking lots.
- Wear light or reflective colored clothing when walking at night and when the light is dim during the rain.
