Safe Kids Foundation and program sponsor FedEx created Safe Kids Walk This Way program to teach safe behaviors to motorists and child pedestrians and to create safer and more walkable communities. The goal of the initiative is preventing pedestrian related injury to children.
Photo Voice: Children's Perspective on Road Traffic Safety was a unique photojournalism project under Walk This Way program.In Mumbai, 18 children participated in this project.
Safe Kids Foundation has been training teachers on road safety so that students can be taught through-out the year. Flip charts and CDs are given to the schools in order to enable the teachers to integrate the subject of Pedestrian Safety in the regular school curriculum.
Safe Kids Foundation reaches out to children from age 3 to 14 through various interactive educational sessions and events to spread the message of pedestrian safety.
Road Safety Week is observed each year in first week of January by Road Safety Patrol.Safe Kids Foundation joined hands with Mumbai Police-Traffic to observe the week in January 2010.
Our evaluation of the tests held in Mumbai during the academic year June2009-May2010 shows an improvement in the understanding of our concept by 23%.
